Torrey Pines win gives Tiger Woods his 75th PGA Tour

Tiger Woods wrapped up his 75th PGA Tour title despite a few nervy moments towards the end of his round in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Woods came into the fifth day of play with a six-shot lead over his nearest challengers, Brandt Snedeker and Nick Watney. With only 11 holes to play, it would have taken a miracle to deprive the world’s No2. He was far from his fluent best but, even though he dropped four strokes in three holes from the 15th, it did not derail his progress to victory and he finished on 14 under par – four strokes clear of last year’s winner, Snedeker. “It got a little ugly towards the end,” admitted Woods. “I just lost my concentration a little bit.” Play was brought into a fifth day due to severe fog on Saturday and Woods needed only to keep his composure to land his first PGA Tour victory of the season.

Tiger is now the only player to win three PGA Tour events seven times, the others being the Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
